Has TXDOT been riding on Willie's Tour Bus?
Crazy news here in Texas. Apparently, the Texas Department of Transportation plans to buy back interstates, turn them into toll roads and bilk all the taxpaying commuters. Yes, let it sink in. They want to buy back the interstates that were paid for by taxpayers. The roads and rights of way belong to us. They want to use money generated by the gas tax (again paid by taxpayers) to pay for the roads. Then they want to charge the taxpayers (now taxed twice) a third time by having us pay tolls. Someone in Austin is suffering from a severe case of cranial rectal inversion. It was in the San Antonio paper. Oh, and a small note to add to this, not all the gas tax goes to infrastructure like it should. Please tell me someone in Austin has some common sense. I'd take the "One Tough Grandma" at this point. Our third term governor who won the state with 39% of the vote is responsible for this. Who do you think would win the popularity contest now, Slick Rick or W?

Hit on someone else Mr. Craig
I listened to the audio of Senator Craig's arrest today. Who is he fooling? And it's not this week's press that would have me up in arms if I lived in Idaho. He was arrested June 11th. That's going on three months ago. Nothing like being open and honest with the constituents in Spuds-ville. And this goes back to square pegs and round holes. He's a Republican. See how many of the faithful right are trying to distance themselves? So do they go to the left? Do they move toward the middle? Or do they hope to put the toe-tapping Senator on a rocket and send him to the International Space Station? And one final rant, where the hell was the media in Minnesota in June?

What I'm trying to say...
It's August and I'm so weary of all these debates. We're over a year away from the '08 elections and I'm being asked to pick sides. Why do I have to pick one agenda over another? Why can't I be pro-choice and for a strong defense? Why should I give a damn about a $400 haircut? Why do I have to be a Democrat or a Republican? Why can't I just be an American? I feel like Stretch Armstrong. I'm sick of being disregarded. I'm going to ask why a lot. I'm going to try to make sense of this madness. There has to be a middle ground out there. There has to be a place where it's not simply black or white. I'll try to post on a regular basis or when there's an event that just triggers the switch. But there has to be a group out there that feels like they're between the proverbial rock and hard place. I may be it. But there has to be someone out there who feels we got screwed by sending our guys to Iraq and we can't equip them properly on a $60 billion annual budget. Someone has to be alarmed by a national debt fast approaching 8 trillion dollars. Someone has to be sick of all the attention lavished on these washed up twenty somethings who don't add anything tangible to life. Someone has to be sick everytime the TV guys try to make it a racial issue. How did the line go in "Network" -- I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!!! Well, I'm mad as hell so I'm going to write about it. Until the next time...
